EDITING

STYLE

Creative Lifestyle Photography by Marina Dams Maternity Photoshoot Vancouver Sunset

My editing style focuses on warm, rich tones, which I feel adds a unique and timeless feel to the photos. This approach is what I believe sets my work apart, and I want to ensure your images align with the style that I specialize in.

It's important to keep in mind that I do not use photoshop to alter my client’s image. My rule for photoshop is: if it is temporary then I will edit it (eg. pimples, bruises and scratches). I know it can be very frightening to see yourself so raw, but I’m here to offer the real experience. I promise you’re worth it!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

-

Where are you located and do you travel?

I'm based in Vancouver, BC, but I have a passion for traveling! Don't hesitate to reach out. If you're interested in sessions outside of the Vancouver area, there will be a travel fee. However, if I'm already in your area, travel fees are waived. You can find my travel schedule on the "pricing" page!

How far in advance should I book?

I typically advise booking at least a month ahead, but it's important to note that spring, summer, and fall are peak seasons, especially for weekends and sunset sessions during the summer. To secure your desired spot, I suggest considering booking up to 3 months in advance.

When to book the newborn if I don't know when the baby is coming?

Newborn lifestyle sessions are scheduled based on your due date and are confirmed once your baby is born. These sessions typically take place midday, allowing for greater flexibility in scheduling. While sessions can be scheduled up to 1 month after the baby is born, I recommend booking within the first 15 days when the baby is sleepier and more adaptable.

My kids don't like to pose, can we still get some nice family photos?

Yes, let your children embrace their natural energy! By capturing their movement and connections, I'll set the scene for authentic memories to unfold. Additionally, I aim to incorporate a posed family picture into our session. Even if the kids aren't keen on posing, I have a variety of props to ensure that the whole family is captured together.

What if it's raining on my session day?

Outdoor sessions are confirmed on the morning of the scheduled day. If it's raining and the location permits, we can still proceed. Indoor sessions are always a great alternative, unaffected by weather conditions.

How to choose location and do you photograph in a studio?

Just let me know what vibe you're after and I'll brainstorm some ideas for you. Want sandy beaches, mountain magic, lakeside serenity, wide-open fields, forest enchantment, or urban chic? Vancouver's got it all, so we'll definitely find the perfect spot for you! Oh, and if you're feeling a studio session, we can totally make that happen too!

How to choose outfits? Do you offer a client closet?

Before our session, I'll send over a prep guide packed with handy tips and ideas to get you ready and feeling confident. And hey, if you need some extra help or want to chat face-to-face through video call or send some pics via email, I'm here for you! I don't have a client closet because I believe you should shine as your authentic self in the photos.

What time of the day should I book my session for?

If you're up for a private outdoor session, sunrise is my top pick. I know it means an early rise, but the serene atmosphere is absolutely worth it. When the weather's sunny and the scenery expansive, sunset is simply magical. But if we're exploring cozy outdoor spots like cities or forests, or if it's a cloudy day, any time works just fine. We'll make it work with your schedule! And for indoor sessions, midday is ideal, with ample natural light streaming in through your windows for those perfect shots.

Can I bring my pets?

For sure! Pets are considered family too. Just make sure to bring along someone to look after your furry friend during the session so you can relax and fully enjoy the experience.
